SETPIECE FOOTBALL

Privacy

Last updated 30 September 2026

The short version. Setpiece never asks for your name, email or age. Team names are made up by the game, not typed. There are no ads, and we don't sell or share anything about you. The game keeps your cards and progress on our server so they're safe. If you allow it, it also sends anonymous information about how the game is played, so we can make it better. You can turn that off, or delete everything, in Settings → Privacy.

Who we are

Setpiece Football is made by Warren Langeveldt. You can reach us at hello@setpiecefootball.com.

What stays on your device

So the game can pick up where you left off, your phone or browser keeps: a copy of your card collection and Road to Glory progress, the squads you've built, a match you haven't finished, your settings, how far you are through the tutorial, and your account's number and secret key. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, removes them from the device.

What our server keeps

When you pick your first squad (or, if you played before accounts, the first time you open the game after they arrived), the game makes an account for you. It has no name or email: just a random number and a secret key that only your device holds (our server keeps a scrambled copy of the key, never the key itself). The account holds:

When you finish a match against the computer, the game sends the moves of that match so the server can play it through and check the result before giving the reward. The moves themselves are not kept.

Your account is kept until you delete it.

Playing online

In an online match, the other player sees your team's made-up name, your squad and your moves. While you wait for an opponent in the lobby, your team name and formation are shown to other players. There is no chat. The server keeps each online match for seven days after anything last happened in it, then deletes it.

How the game is played (only if you allow it)

With Share how you play on (it starts on, and you can turn it off in Settings → Privacy), the game sends anonymous information about how it's played to PostHog, the service we use to understand it. This is:

It contains no name, email or anything you've typed. It travels through our own website address, to PostHog's servers in the United States. PostHog keeps game information for up to a year and screen recordings for 30 days. When your device connects, PostHog may see its internet address and use it to estimate your country.

The companies that run it

Netlify hosts the website and Cloudflare runs the game's server. Like any website, they see your device's internet address when it connects, to send the game to it. PostHog receives the information above, if you allow it. Apple handles Sign in with Apple and the Setpiece Pro purchase, if you use them. We don't use any other outside services: no advertising, no social media tracking, and the game's fonts are served from our own site.

Children

Setpiece is made to be safe for children to play. It never asks for personal information, names are made up by the game, and there's one optional thing to buy, Setpiece Pro, which asks a grown-up's question first and is paid for through Apple (with Ask to Buy for children in a Family Sharing group). There are no ads and no packs for sale. A parent can turn off Share how you play, or delete the account, at any time in Settings → Privacy.

Deleting everything

In Settings → Privacy → Delete my account. This deletes your account and everything in it from our server straight away (and ends its Sign in with Apple link with Apple), clears the game from your device, and starts the game again from picking your first squad. It can't be undone. Online matches are deleted seven days after they were last played. Information already sent to PostHog isn't tied to your account; it is deleted on PostHog's schedule above.
